About
My name is Jack Goins. I’ve been drawn to photography since I first picked up my mom’s Nikon D7000 back in middle school. What started as curiosity quickly grew into something far more lasting—a deep appreciation for the way a photograph can freeze time, tell a story, and preserve the fleeting. Since then, I’ve continued to chase that moment—the one shot that says everything.
Over the years, I’ve evolved not only as a photographer but as a person. Technically, I’ve moved from that original Nikon to the Canon EOS 90D, and most recently to my first mirrorless camera—the Nikon Z8. It’s the most advanced tool I’ve ever used, and with it, I feel closer than ever to capturing that elusive “perfect” image. I haven’t found it yet—but I’m not in a rush. The pursuit is part of the reward.
To me, photography isn’t just about sharpness, exposure, or gear (though I do enjoy the technical side). It’s about capturing something that cannot be recreated—no matter how carefully you try. A gesture, a glance, the way the light hit at a specific time—it all lives in that one frame. That’s what keeps me coming back: the power of a photograph to speak a thousand words, to hold a moment forever, even if it was imperfect or fleeting.
Some of my favorite images are tied to memories—some beautiful, others painful. But all of them are real. That honesty, that authenticity, is what I try to bring into every photograph I take. Whether I’m shooting a landscape, a street scene, or something more abstract, I want the viewer to feel something, even if they don’t know the backstory.
Outside of photography, I currently work in a sales position, and I enjoy what I do. It gives me a chance to connect with people, solve problems, and challenge myself in a different way. But when I’m not working, I’m usually spending time with my wife, Meadow—my best friend and constant support—and our dog, Fanta, a Tennessee Treeing Plott Hound with more personality than most people I know.
Together, we live a life full of movement, stories, and small moments that matter. I carry my camera with me as often as I can—not because I’m always trying to take pictures, but because you never know when a meaningful moment will show up.
This portfolio is a collection of my work over the years. Some of it is older. Some is new. All of it represents where I’ve been, what I’ve seen, and how I’ve grown. I hope you find something here that resonates—and if not, I hope you come back sometime. That perfect photo might be here next time.
